November Novelties: The Shopping List

The urge for shopping has hit once again and I found myself compelled to make a list of the items that I currently have my beady little eyes on for this upcoming month and beyond. Let's take a gander, shall we?

Boots: It's been an almost full-time endeavour to find the perfect pair of tall boots to last me through the fall and winter seasons (and hopefully onto next year). This lovely pair from Nine West certainly fit the bill of being polished, sleek, and functional for a gal who is constantly on the move (and has a habit of walking as fast as possible everywhere).

Panama Hat: While I will admit that I have more than enough hats for one individual, I am always on the lookout for more headpieces that flatter my head size as I've had one too many experiences with ill-fitting beanies or cable-knit turbans going awry. This panama hat looks both stylish and safe enough for me to assume that it would look fabulous on almost anyone. As well, I feel like I need a great black felt or wool hat for the upcoming rock concert that I will be attending in L.A. later this month. If I must go to that event, I might as well look fantastic!

Turtleneck Sweater: This is a bit of an odd wishlist item as I used to abhor turtlenecks for their perceived itchiness and geeky connotations; however, turtlenecks have been coming back with a vengeance lately on fashion blogs everywhere and have certainly peaked my interest! While I have no interest in the heavy, cable-knit versions, I am eyeing several lightweight pieces in neutral tones that will be the perfect way to complement the rest of any fall/winter ensemble.

Pleather Skirt: To be honest, this isn't really a shopping list item as I bought this particular skirt back in the beginning of September. Sheinside.com was having a pre-sale and I managed to snag this piece for the price of $13.14 (free shipping!). However, I didn't anticipate the extremely long wait period that it would take for the item first to be shipped out from Nanjing and then to arrive at my house (I'm still anxiously waiting). Until then, I've been buying skirts like crazy but have managed to stop myself from buying any pleather, skater-style versions.

Over-the-Knee Socks: I find this trend extremely cute and want to try it out while hopefully avoiding frostbite in our rapidly cooling temperatures. I plan to wear these with skirts or shorts; I love being able to transition my favourite summertime pieces into the fall!

MacBook Pro (13-inch): While my good ol' ASUS laptop has served me well over these last couple of years, it's time to let go and move on to better things! As well, I'm not looking forward to that inevitable crash (and impending tears of frustration and horror) that will occur when this laptop dies. Instead, I've been shopping around the Apple Store for my next baby-- the 13-inch MacBook Pro. While I previously thought that the $1000 price tag was a bit steep for my taste, I eventually rationalized the splurge with the notions that 1) I would get student pricing and 2) MacBooks are the best tools with which to use creative programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator (programs that I plan on using frequently for publishing courses and blogging). Plus, once I get my MacBook, it'll be small and light enough to buy a cute laptop bag to carry it in...

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 Lens: In the midst of creating this shopping list collage, I made the bittersweet discovery that this particular lens is on sale but is currently sold out almost everywhere. While its original price of $120 was more than manageable, the bargain hunter in me would have been very happy to have procured this item for less than $109! My photographer friend, Lydia K, and many other bloggers have recommended this lens as being providing incredible value for its affordable price; the lens helps to create wonderful depth and visual effects not possible with the plain kit lens. I'm literally drooling over the possibilities that I'll hopefully be able to explore once I get my hands on this!

Well, it's now 12:45 am and I probably should get some sleep instead of lusting over all of these want-list items. What are some of your November shopping list items?
