A Dotted Father's Day
Happy Monday everyone!
While I suffered from poor sleep last night (don't you hate waking up in the wee hours of the morning for no good reason?), I felt refreshed enough to work early this morning after having such a wonderful weekend. On Saturday night, I enjoyed a lovely girls night in during which we had a delicious potluck dinner, watched Mean Girls for the fifty billionth time, and discussed a plethora of random topics as groups of girls tend to do.
The next day was filled with feasting: I first had a buffet lunch with my family at a local Indian restaurant called Bengali Fish & Curry. Later that same day, I had a giant seafood dinner with my boyfriend's family to celebrate both his upcoming birthday and Father's Day. Luckily I was able to squeeze in a workout session in between meals!
In regard to Sunday's outfit, I wore another item that I had recently bought from H&M's current sales: this polka-dotted, over-sized blazer. As many of my friends have noted, I have a tendency to wear bright colours and bold prints as much as possible. So, when I'm keeping the colour palette to a minimum, I like to rely upon interesting prints to create some visual interest within my ensemble. On this particular day, my hair was at the end of no-wash stint and therefore looked quite lackluster. As well, my nails still had on their gel manicure from three weeks ago-- I have been too lazy to make the effort to get them off without outside assistance (I've heard acetone, aluminum foil, and 20 minutes of soaking does the trick). So hopefully I looked okay!
Top, Necklace, & Blazer // H&M (on sale)
Shorts // Sirens
Shoes // Vince Camuto
Bag // Marc by Marc Jacobs
I hope that you all had a most wonderful weekend and that you spoiled your dads rotten. I'm looking forward to a week full of exciting activities, such as watching the musical Wicked on Thursday and my boyfriend's birthday on Friday!
Superb look here, Doffy. Head-to-toe classy! Love the oversized blazer & your purse. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼

Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI really like how you combined bold prints with this outfit. As you said, you don't need a bright color to make a statement, bold prints def make the trick! I love the dotted blazer you got! I haven't gone to H&M yet, affraid of the damage I'm going to do to my pocket! lol Anyways I really love this outfit, it is classy, fun and fresh, you really did a great job! Oh and your hair and nails look fine haha if you didn't mention it I would have never notice it :)
About your nails, do not remove the gel by yourself! I know there is a lot of DIY posts out there that teach you how, but it really ruined my nails :( For a while there I got my nails done way to many times! because I got stuck on the cycle where I needed a specialist to get the gel off and then since I was at the salon already I will get another one! lol so it was never ending and it was hurting my credit card, so I decided to take off one day and big big mistake! now they are all weak and is hard to grow them as long as they used to be.
I hope you enjoy all the activities you have planed for the week! Wicked sounds amazing and I'm sure you and your bf are going to have a great time one his birthday :) I can't wait to see what you wear for that occasion.
XOXO

Oh girl, you looked so lovely! This needed to be said. I love the combo of prints so much and as you mentioned, there is no bright colour needed. That look is just on point.
ReplyDeleteAnd about the nails don't take the gel off by yourself! Trust me, I ruined mine while doing it on my own. It might be cheeper yes and save you more money but its not that helpful.
Hope that you have a great time during your activies and wishing u a great week.

Another fabulous & stylish outfit esp on Father's Day! I love the whole oversized blazer look & on top of that w/ the polka dots is so cutely chic! Explaining ur eatings over the wkend had my stomach grumbling haha. I love Indian food & the fact that u went to a buffet sounds even more delightful! Haven't found a restaurant here that has an Indian buffet.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for u to watch, Wicked! Wicked was like my 2nd Broadway show I watched & I still can go on and on abt it :D

Right now, I hate you. How can you ? How can you be as beautiful as this, have as stunning pieces of outfit like those jacket, top, and so on ? This is unfair. Really. You're the symbol of perfection and I'm totally jealous.

ReplyDeleteGirl, doesn't matter if you're wearing brights or monochrome outfit, you still look fab! I love the individual pieces!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the way I get gel polish off is by picking on them until they're off. I know it's bad but it's something that's kind off satisfying!
