Floral Summer

While we all dread the first day of the work week, the Monday blues have been greatly reduced by the fact that we’ve been enjoying the most gorgeous weather lately. It’s hard to believe that soon the days will be shorter, colder, gloomier, and wetter. I’ve been trying to soak in the sunshine, warmth, and general summer vibes by spending as much time outside as possible—whether it be hiking, running, chilling at a park, on the beach, or on my patio.

Just yesterday I spent the most wonderful afternoon at a local park near my place that has been greatly expanded in recent years to celebrate Coquitlam’s 125th anniversary—I was amazed that such a great recreational area was so near to where I live and that I haven’t been using it nearly enough. While catching up with a good friend, we wandered through a beautiful garden, sat in the shade of the outdoor amphitheatre, and strolled past the lake. Oh, and of course we took lots of photos for the ‘gram!

It’s even easier to get through the week when you have a weekend getaway coming up for the Labour Day long weekend. Since it’s our second wedding anniversary on Wednesday, we decided to take a mini-trip to the Tofino and Ucluelet area for a few days. Once there, we plan to relax on the beaches, do some lovely coastal hikes, enjoy the local cuisine, and reminisce over our favourite memories from the past two years of marriage.

How is it possible that almost  730 days have passed since we tied the knot? On a daily basis, I feel so blessed that I can spend as much time as I want with my favourite person—trading our silly inside jokes, doing nice little things for each other, cooking together, cleaning our place together, and all of the million little things you do together in a marriage. I feel that our relationship and routine grow stronger and more enjoyable with every passing day—all because we try not to take one another for granted and remember that marriage requires tons of love, patience, compassion, and empathy. I am so happy that I chose this man to grow old with!

Romper // Sears
Hat // Topshop
Shoes // Aldo
Bag // Rebecca Minkoff
Sunglasses // Ray-Ban

Back to today’s outfit post, this ensemble was a honestly a by-product of curiosity and shopaholicism on my part. While scrolling through Instagram as I do too often, I came across quite a few posts for Sears Canada promoting their new branding and products. While I didn’t have too much faith in their quality, I was curious to see whether Sears had truly changed for the better. The answer is: yes and no. While I do appreciate their en pointe Instagram page and actually enjoy their cheap stationary and home decor, I was reminded as to why I don’t love online shopping for clothes. Unless I am very familiar with the sizing and quality of an online supplier, you never know if you will look anything like the models (actually, I will never look anything like those models haha) in those pieces. For this particular romper, I did find the design quite cute IRL (in real life); however, the quality was a bit poor and I don’t see why the neckline has to be so darn low! I had to buy a bralet just to wear this romper and even then I felt a little exposed…

Nevertheless, it was a good outfit to wear to the PNE Fair on a double date with one of my favourite married couples! I probably will never buy anything from Sears again—consider that little lesson learned.

While it's still the beginning of the week, I have no doubt that the next few days will fly by as they are all full of something to forward to! What are your most anticipated long weekend plans?
