As previously mentioned, I used to have a smile that I was afraid to show until I underwent the torture of braces in my teen years. When I received my electric toothbrush, I was actually quite nervous about how I would tackle using this newfangled device. After using this brush for about two weeks now, I'm excited to share my experiences with you!
After I got over my strange intimidation of this new device, I fell in love with how easy it was to use and how clean my teeth felt afterwards. By using the instruction manual, I soon learned that the best techniques for a healthier smile include:
- gentle brush strokes
- brushing at a 45 degree angle
- brushing all four corners of your mouth:
- each quadrant of your mouth should be given 30 seconds of your attention, twice a day
- avoiding abrasive toothpastes to maintain your enamel
- flossing (all of your teeth, not just the front ones)
- brushing or scrubbing your tongue
- regular checkups with your dentist
I also love how this brush offers five different modes, depending on your particular needs:
- Clean: the standard mode for daily cleaning
- White: the most powerful mode for removing surface stains, polishing, and vigorous deep cleaning
- Massage: gentle pulsation for gum stimulation
- Gum Care: for gentle cleaning along the gum-line
- Sensitive: for users who find the normal cleaning mode too aggressive
Immediately after my first use of the toothbrush, I felt like my teeth were super clean and polished (and I didn't have to brush as hard as I did with a manual toothbrush). I also felt confident that the vibrating motion of the toothbrush would clean my teeth better than my technique while brushing manually. After a couple of weeks, I feel like my teeth look and feel whiter and healthier; as well, I feel like my gums are better tended, especially in the problematic area around the back molars.
